A pot washer-turned-chef will be appearing on TV this evening as he competes in MasterChef: The Professionals.

Charlie Jeffreys of Dorchester will appear on the programme, which airs on BBC One at 9.10pm tonight (Thursday, November 24).

The twenty-four-year-old is currently working in London as a Senior Chef De Partie at the Alain Ducasse at top hotel The Dorchester.

Charlie said: “I started as a pot washer at Yalbury Cottage Hotel in Lower Bockhampton and the chef there guided me into cooking. I gradually went further and further into the kitchen with prep and service.

“My mum also loves cooking, and we did a lot when I was younger. It’s been my passion from childhood, I believe I was born to love it. I’m passionate about taking ingredients in their raw states straight from the ground/sea/forest, being creative with them and making something tasty and beautiful for myself and others to enjoy - There’s nothing better.”

One of Charlie’s career highlights is spending five years in a three Michelin Star restaurant.

He added: “I applied for the show because I wanted a new challenge, something different to take me out of my comfort zone. But, most of all, I wanted to define my style and be creative with my own ideas.”

Charlie will be competing for the prestigious MasterChef: The Professionals title over six intense weeks alongside 32 other ambitious chefs from across the country

Acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Anna Haugh will be joining the judging panel this year alongside Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing and celebrated MasterChef judge, Gregg Wallace as the show returns for its 15th series.
