Flood warnings are still in place for parts of Dorset today as river levels remain high.

A number of flood alerts issued by the Environment Agency yesterday also remain in force. 

People who live in west Dorset have been advised to 'consider taking action' as the area remains on flood alert.

Water levels remain high at Rivers Lim, Char, Winniford, Simene, Brit, Asker, Mangerton and Bride due to recent downpours.

It means a flood alert, urging people to 'be prepared', remains in place today for west Dorset rivers and streams.

Members of the public are being urged to take care and to avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

You should not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. The alert is expected to remain in place until noon on Monday. 

Flood warnings, urging people to act now as flooding is expected, remain in place for Upper and Lower Frome. 

Warning for Upper Frome (from Maiden Newton to Dorchester)

Areas in: Higher Frome Vauchurch, Frome Vauchurch, Cruxton, Frampton, Grimstone, Muckleford, Stratton, Bradford Peverell, Wrackleford, Charminster, Frome Whitfield, Wolfeton, Lower Burton and Cokers Frome are still at risk.

Rising water levels at Upper Frome have left Muckleford Road, just off the A37, impassable today.

The road is flooded between the turn-off for the A37 and Muckleford Bridge (Winterbourne Abbas).

Warning for Lower Frome (from Dorchester to East Stoke)

River levels remain high on the Lower River Frome between Dorchester and Wareham due to  heavy rainfall.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations on the River Frome in the Dorchester, West Stafford, Bockhampton, Lewell, Tincleton, Pallington, Waddock, Moreton, Wool and East Stoke areas.

Flood alert for Upper Frome and tributaries

River levels remain high in the Upper Dorset Frome and Hooke river following heavy rainfall.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Consider putting your flood plan into action.

"You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. People in the areas should consider taking action now. We urge all people to take care and not drive through flood water."
