RESIDENTS at a care home in north Dorset were able to take a step back in time and experience the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child this year.

Trinity Manor Care Home, in Sherborne, invited families and community members with young children to come along and visit the residents.

The afternoon was designed to develop intergeneration connections and also included some rather large and furry donkeys as well as a visit from the big man, Father Christmas himself.

It also happened to coincide with the staff’s very first day without facemasks after fresh guidance now issued by Public Health England, that they are no longer mandatory in care home settings after an almost three year long period.

Rebekah Goddard, Home Services Advisor at the home, added: "Everyone is thrilled with today’s wonderful event and to see so many smiles coupled with fun and laughter about the home has been fantastic – if we could bottle the atmosphere in here today, and sell it, we would make a fortune.”

Rebekah thanked Bill, the partner of one of the residents, who put in a good word with Santa and Melanie who brought the donkeys to the residents.
