Network Rail is continuing to carry out railway improvement work this week on the train line between Dorchester and Upwey.

Nearby residents have been written to informing them of 'essential work' to remove rail defects and tamping track.

The overnight work started on Sunday, January 8 at 11pm and will continue until 7am on Friday, January 13.

Workers will be using road rail vehicles, small plant and hand tools.

"This may cause noise disturbance to the neighbours," residents are indformed.

A spokesman continued: "The equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable and we sincerely apologise for this in advance.

"Furthermore staff working on site are briefed on working resposibly in the local community."
