A new free family festival ‘shaping up to be one of the largest events of the summer’ will take place later this year.

Weymouth and Portland Round Table has announced that it will host a new fun-filled family festival called SummerFest at Redlands Leisure and Community Park, Weymouth, on Saturday, June 3 from 10am to 10pm.

Weymouth and Portland Round Table Chairman Adam Luckhurst said: “SummerFest has all the makings of a fantastic day out for local families and visitors alike with a jam-packed line-up of activities and attractions, including live bands and the opportunity to watch the FA Cup Final all topped off by a grand firework display.

“SummerFest is shaping up to be not only one of the largest and most popular events in Weymouth this summer but also the biggest fundraiser in Weymouth and Portland Round Table’s calendar - so save the date of June 3 in your diary now.”

The event will also include a pop-up farmers’ market with food and refreshments, a children’s football tournament, crazy golf, a bouncy castle, rides and trampolines plus falconry, Combat Lab and classic car displays with more attractions to be confirmed.

SummerFest is a high-profile headline event at Redlands Leisure and Community Park. The sports centre was at risk of closing last year but was saved following community efforts, and it has been taken over by Active Dorset.

Clive Nelson from Active Dorset said: “We welcome the SummerFest event on June 3 and are looking forward to it. It represents a big new start for Redlands.”

SummerFest promises to be a signature fundraising event for Weymouth and Portland Round Table since it was re-established following the Covid pandemic.

Entry to the SummerFest event is free although an optional donation can be made on arrival, with proceeds going to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Round Table’s defibrillator fundraising appeal.

Becky Heath, Supporter Engagement Officer for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said: “We are extremely excited to be a part of SummerFest at Redlands in June. It is set to be a fantastic event and we want to say a massive thank you to all involved for their support.”
