SIX more custom ceramic paving slabs have been installed across Weymouth in a further effort to highlight the historical landmarks in the town.

Following the new additions, the town now boasts 18 different slabs which act as a way for locals and visitors alike to explore and learn about the town.

The slabs offer facts about the historical landmarks and help to showcase Weymouth’s rich and varied history.

The new designs see the existing slab trail extend as far as Bowleaze Cove in the Preston area of the town, showcasing the Roman Temple, Stone Pier, Hope Square and the Pier Bandstand.

The slabs have been designed by Ned Heywood of Heritage Ceramics, and the artwork and text accompanying the attractions have been supplied by Weymouth Musuem's local history centre.

We are Weymouth, the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), has supported the new installation.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth said: "We are over the moon to announce that our Heritage Trail has now been extended to 18 slabs, what a way to explore the town and learn about Weymouth’s rich and varied past!

"We’ve had excellent feedback from visitors and locals about the slabs and the trail, with renewed interest in the town’s incredible history.

"This is an important long-term legacy for the town, celebrating its historical past for generations to come. We look forward to future installations."
