Music will be in the air during the bank holiday weekend of the King's Coronation.

Weymouth Town Council has organised and provided grant funding for many events happening around the town over the Coronation weekend from busking to a beach concert.

The Community Coronation Concert, on Sunday, May 7, has a line-up featuring talented local artists including That Brit Pop Band, Under the Carousel, Lewis Snarey and many more.

It will be on Weymouth Beach, opposite Alexandra Gardens, and will take place from noon to 10pm. As well as the music there will be a big firework display in Weymouth Bay at 9.30pm.

Meanwhile, for one day only, on Saturday, May 6, busking will be allowed on Weymouth Promenade where there will be four prime locations that musicians could have a chance of busking to a crowd along the seafront.

Buskers will need to book a slot which you can do by emailing events@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk Chairman of the town council's Services committee, Councillor Ryan Hope said: "Local communities around Weymouth are coming together to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III by hosting events for residents and visitors. There is a wealth of musical talent in Weymouth which will be showcased at the Community Coronation Concert, as well as the busking day, so why not make a weekend of it and celebrate together."

The 'Big Help Out' funding sees £1,000 available to encourage community groups to take part in volunteering activities across the bank holiday weekend and groups can apply for up to £100 towards the cost of putting on an activity.

Application forms and more information about the events happening can be found here: https://www.weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk/ with the deadline to apply for funding of Friday 28th April at midday.
