An event promising 'muddy good fun' will be discounted for runners taking part who raise cash for a charity aiding those with profound lifelong disabilities in Dorset.

Held at Stock Gaylard near Sturminster Newton, the Dorset Mud Run will take place on Saturday, May 20.

Runners are challenged to take on 6km of challenging and fun obstacles, including swinging over ditches, a scramble up mud hills, crawling under cargo nets and wading through ponds.

Participants taking part for Diverse Abilities will receive a discount for entry, as well as the charity’s support with their fundraising.

Every penny raised will support the charity’s Splash Appeal to build a desperately needed hydrotherapy pool for people with profound, lifelong, disabilities at The Beehive, the charity’s activity and therapy centre. The charity supports hundreds of families affected by disability in Dorset every year.

Helen Mortimer, head of fundraising at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Dorset Mud Run organisers for supporting Diverse Abilities’ through their event and giving people who are fundraising for us an entry discount.

"Taking part in this event is a great way to fundraise for The Splash Appeal – get muddy whilst raising money to build a warm water pool for people who otherwise have no opportunity whatsoever to get in the water and achieve the incredible health benefits it brings.”

Discounted entry is £20 per person (normal price £35).
