The massive cruise liner MSC Virtuosa sailed into Portland Port this morning.

The Virtuosa is one of the largest cruise ships in the world and is part of MSC Cruises - a Swiss company.

It is the joint second largest cruise ship in MSC's fleet.

MSC Virtuosa, which is 331 metres long, has 16 decks and at full capacity with passengers and crew can carry 6,334 people – that’s around half the population of Portland.

It has a maximum speed of 22.2 knots, a tonnage of 181,541, with 2,421 cabins and a crew of 1,704.

For guests, the cruise ship offers a range of food, entertainment, a robot bartender serving drinks, space for games consoles, multiple pools and waterslides.

It is currently on a three-day round trip of Northern Europe. It will be departing at 7pm for Cherbourg in France before making its way back to Southampton, where it started.

She was originally scheduled to debut on November 8, 2020, but her delivery and entry were delayed due to the Covid pandemic. She was delivered to MSC Cruises on February 1, 2021 and entered service in May of that year.
