An attack outside a Weymouth pub left the victim with what appeared to be 'acid burns', firefighters have said.
The fire service has reponded with a full statement regarding Friday night's incident near the Wyke Smugglers in Portland Road in which police initially said a man was attacked with an unknown substance.

The incident was described on social media as an 'acid attack' but police were unable to confirm the nature of the substance at this stage.
However a statement from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called just before 10pm yesterday (28 April) to the Smugglers Inn, Weymouth following reports of an incident involving a hazardous substance.
"Two fire engines from Weymouth and one from Portland were mobilised.
"On arrival, crews found one male with what appeared to have acid burns which were washed with water and casualty care procedures taken until the ambulance service were on scene."
The brigade said crews remained on scene until 10.40pm.
