An open gardens event in Cerne Abbas is to taken place this month for a 47th time.

About 25 private gardens in the village will be open from 2pm until 6pm on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18.

The proceeds will be divided between a cause in the village and another outside; this year the Charles North Charity set up in 1943 to help folk in distress in the village and the Dorchester Food Bank.

Entrance to all gardens is by a single ticket, which costs £8 for adults and accompanying children under 16 are free.

A few gardens are accessible in wheelchairs and most gardens accept well behaved dogs on leads.

There is a well-regarded plant stall and teas will be provided by the local youth club, both commencing at 1pm.

Almost all gardens are within easy walking distance of the free car park and are located on maps distributed with the ticket.
