Young farmers from six counties across the south west will be competing against each other in a weekend of challenges.

From Saturday June 24 to Sunday, June 25, young farmers from Dorset, Somerset, Cornwall, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Devon will go head-to-head to compete at the South West Area Competitions Weekend at Kingston Maurward College near Dorchester.

Many competitions will take place over the weekend, ranging from Stockjudging to Fashion and Make and Model.

Saturday will see the Junior and Senior Stockman competitions take place with the aid of the animals from the Kingston Maurward Farm, as well as Farm Safety Skills which includes skills like checking machinery, movement skills and first aid.

For the first time this year Young Farmers’ Clubs will be organising a catwalk with the members who are taking part in the Fashion Make and Model competition and the theme is ‘A Day at the Races.’

On the Sunday, a very competitive and popular Tug of War Competition will take place across three categories, Juniors (12-17 years), Ladies (17-28 years) and Mens (17-28 years).

Young Farmers Clubs are open to everyone between the ages of 10 to 28, whether they are from a farming background or not.
