WAREHAM Golf Club has been granted planning permission for an extension to include a golf simulator room and extra office space.

Dorset Council has approved the changes for the club, which is based off Sandford Road.

It allows for a single storey extension on the western side of the clubhouse as well as a single storey in-fill extension on the southern elevation.

The club say the extensions will add 84sqm to its internal space, which it says, can be considered minimal compared to the existing area of 472sqm.

“The wider site of which the proposed extension is located on is already hard surfaced and therefore it will not constitute over development nor would it harmfully impact on the openness of the Green Belt,” said the statement to the council from a planning agent.

The club says the extension will allow it to provide up to date facilities to members and visitors and that the design and finish of the proposed extension will be appropriate to the area, including the Green Belt.
