A fire broke out at a pub. 

Firefighters were called to the the Mitre Inn, Shaftesbury, on Sunday afternoon.

The hob and oven were alight in the pub's kitchen.

Thanking firefighters for their actions, the pub posted on its social media page: “We would like to thank Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team for their swift actions today with our small kitchen fire.

“We are closed for the rest of today but planning to open as normal tomorrow. We can confirm that everyone is safe and well.

“We would like to thank everyone for all their well wishes and kind words.”

Firefighters were called to the pub kitchen at around 2.30pm on Sunday, July 16. 

A spokesperson for the service said: "Two crews from Shaftesbury and one crew from Sturminster Newton attended the incident which involved an oven fire in the kitchen of the premises

"Two breathing apparatus wearers used a hose reel jet and two CO2 extinguishers to tackle the fire."
