A LOCOMOTIVE named after exotic islands thrilled nostalgia lovers when it steamed into town.
Locomotive 45596 Bahamas pulled into Weymouth train station on Thursday, August 17 in a Dorset Coast Express tour.
It was a real treat for rail enthusiasts, who have been enjoying the frequent visits of 'seaside special' steam trains over the summer season.
Passengers boarded Bahamas at London Victoria, Staines, Woking, Basingstoke, and Bournemouth on the way to Weymouth.
It left the resort late in the afternoon and passengers enjoyed a gourmet dinner upon the return.
Bahamas is a London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Jubilee Class and in May 1961 was under the ownership of British Railways.
In July 1966, Bahamas was withdrawn from traffic. A preservation society was founded and raised the money to purchase it from British Rail to prevent it from being scrapped.
