A SHORT season of summer evening concerts at a Weymouth church is to continue this bank holiday weekend.

All Saints in Wyke Regis, featuring the church’s 1884 Henry Jones organ, continues with a recital by organist Simon Clarkson on Saturday, August 26.

The concert includes music by Stanford, Parry and Coleridge-Taylor.

Born in Lancashire, Simon has pursued a varied career as a teacher, soloist and accompanist on both the piano and organ.

He is Head of Academic Music and organist at Sherborne Girls and regularly contributes to the weekly recital series in Sherborne Abbey, as well as playing with several ensembles in the South West. When not performing, teaching or examining music he is active as a composer and arranger – and has even been heard on Radio 3!

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 (children under 16 free).

Tickets are available online at parishofwykeregis.org.uk/events, or contact Jeff Thomas on 07710 096174 to reserve.

There will be a cash bar and a retiring collection for the Church Roof Appeal.
