Fundraisers in Dorchester are stepping out in support of the most vulnerable communities around the world.

Christian Aid supporters have organised an eight-mile sponsored walk to the River Jordan in Dorset.

It takes place on Saturday, September 30, with walkers leaving from St Peter’s Church, Dorchester, at 9.30am, and finishing up at Bowleaze Cove, in Preston, Weymouth.

Phil Stacey, one of the organisers, said the annual event is always enjoyable but is especially poignant this year following the launch of Christian Aid’s Libya Floods Appeal.

He said: “Christian Aid works with people of all faiths and none, supporting communities facing all the challenges of poverty and climate change.

“This help becomes all the more urgent in times of humanitarian disasters, such as the floods in Libya and we are glad we can support Christian Aid in our own way through our sponsored walk.”
