A CLIFF fall was reported near Kimmeridge Bay on the Jurassic Coast.

Coastguards from Kimmeridge were called to investigate reports of a cliff fall in the Rope Lake Head area, east of Kimmeridge at around 10am on Thursday, October 12.

Teams carried out a visual search to the east and west along the south west coast path.

A new small cliff fall was found near the Eldon Seat.

The cliff fall was seen to be a safe distance away from the footpath causing no impact to the safety of the popular walking route.

The teams subsequently returned to their stations.

A spokesperson for Kimmeridge Coastguard said: "The team were tasked to investigate reports of a possible cliff fall in the Rope Lake Head area, east of Kimmeridge, initially called in by our good friends at NCI St Alban's Head that observed the fall from their watch tower.

"On arrival, teams carried out a visual search for a good distance to the east and west along the coast path.

"A fresh small cliff fall was found in the Eldon Seat area and with no impact to the footpath being a reasonable distance away, teams logged the location and returned to the station."

Note -The cliffs along this stretch are always crumbling with frequent small cliff falls. We would always strongly advise keeping to the designated footpaths and stay well away from the temptation of moving closer to the edge.
