People in parts of Dorset are being warned to expect flooding.

Following heavy rain a warning and several alerts have been issued across Dorset.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for Dorchester Road and Frome Lane in Maiden Newton. This means that flooding is expected in this area.

The Environment Agency advises people in this area to take action to protect themselves and their property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have.

A flood alert, meaning that flooding is possible in these areas, has been issued for tributaries between Toller Whelme and Dorchester.

Additionally, an alert has been issued for west Dorset rivers and streams: Lim, Char, Winniford, Simene, Brit, Asker, Mangerton and Bride.

The Environment Agency advises people in these alert areas to monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
