An exciting new event celebrating spring and the start of summer is coming to Dorset next year.

The Dorset Spring Show is set for Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 at Kingston Maurward near Dorchester.

The event has been organised by the team behind the Dorset County Show to highlight the spirit of spring.

Chairman of the show, Jason Bowerman said: “The aim of the new show is to welcome the warmer months after a long winter.

“The root of this event trace back to the society’s annual Spring Horticulture and Homecraft Competitions Show, set against the stunning backdrop of Kingston Maurward."

An array of captivating experiences is set to take over the show including local delicacies and the skills behind their creation.

Demonstrations on homegrown foods will also be available with talks from local speakers.

Local music acts will also be in attendance, and people will get the chance to try rural skills, explore the shopping districts, indulge in sweet treats and meet lambs.

A fun filled stage show presenting nine different breeds of Sheep that dance will be at the show- where visitors will get the chance to learn about wool.

The Dorset Spring Show will have a special focus on showcasing the farm to fork process, highlighting how the agriculture sector feeds the nation, welcoming a range of speakers and rural crafters in all Dorset aspects.

James Cox, Show Organiser, gave a taste of what visitors can expect from this inaugural show. He said: “Speakers Corner, Floral Demonstrations, Agri Education Hub, Crafters Corner- there is so much happening in this new event, and you can be a part of it.

“For over 170 years, the Dorset County Show has bid summer farewell in style. In 2024, we are also starting summer with a blooming bang through the Dorset Spring Show. We will have so much to announce over the long winter months,” he added.
