Several Dorset restaurants and takeaways have won in this year’s prestigious Good Food Awards.

Japanese fine-dining restaurant Myra’s Kaiseki from Dorchester, Marlboro Fish and Chips in Weymouth along with Hidden Gem Kebabs in Littlemoor have all won the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes™.

The award recognises the hard-working teams who strive for culinary excellence within their field. Chosen for their food quality, service and value, it is bestowed upon those with high customer ratings and votes.

Owner Paul Elgee spoke to the Echo about what winning the award means to him and his wife Myra, who the restaurant is named after.

He said: “It is very important to us. It means a lot to our team of people and we pass it back to the suppliers as well.

“We are number one in Dorchester – but we are only as good as last night - it is a continuous process.

“Whilst we benchmark with London restaurants it is very rewarding when customers reference us to these restaurants.

“We are trying to keep the same quality of food but at the same time we look at the cost of ingredients.

“We don’t want people to think it’s overpriced; we are very conscious of the prices.”
