THERE were fears for a missing paraglider off the coast of Portland.

Concerns were raised for the welfare of a missing paraglider who may have got into difficulty near Chesil Cove on Portland on Monday (November 20).

Coastguards from Portland were called to investigate but found nothing untoward.

Later in the evening, it was confirmed the paraglider had landed safely out of sight and was safe and well.

A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard said: "We were tasked by Solent Coastguard to investigate a report of a paraglider that may have got into difficulty in the Chesil Cove area.

"On scene, the team conducted a search of the area but nothing untoward was found.

"With no further information or persons reported missing the team was stood down.

"Later in the evening the team were contacted to confirm the Paraglider had landed safely out of sight and was safe and well, this information was passed to Solent Coastguard to close the incident."
