An annual crafty Christmas event which sees jam jars turned into lanterns has been cancelled.
Sparkle in the Park was set to take place today (Sunday, November 26), at 3.30pm at Lodmoor Country Park.
Sadly, due to poor weather conditions and safety concerns, the ‘heartbreaking’ decision has been made to cancel the annual event.
An organiser said: “It’s so wet on the foot it wouldn’t be safe, it’s really muddy and slippery.
“It’s a heartbreaking decision after so many weeks of getting ready but it’s all about the comfort and safety of people.”
The much-loved event sees people decorate jam jars and turn them into lanterns with their friends and families in an hour of fun and laughter to kickstart the festive season.
At present, it is unknown if the event will be rescheduled.
