A 20-year-old has been arrested after a man was left with multiple injuries following an alleged assault outside a Weymouth pub.

Police are investigating an alleged assault outside the Bridge Inn pub on Bridge Inn Lane in Preston and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A man in his 50s was reportedly assaulted outside the venue at around 9.20pm on Saturday, November 25.

It was further reported that the man was involved in a verbal altercation with two young men earlier in the evening who were also visiting the pub.

Later, when the victim left the venue, he was allegedly attacked by the men, sustaining injuries to his back, hand, face and head.

Officers attended the incident and following enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault.

He has been released on police bail as officers continue their investigation. A second man has attended a voluntary police interview.

Police Constable Thomas Pocock, of Weymouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the pub or around the area of Bridge Inn Lane at the time and has information to help my enquiries to please get in touch.”
