RAIL passengers travelling through north Dorset are being warned of train delays.

Due to a signalling problem between Salisbury and Warminster trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.

This is affecting rail passengers boarding and alighting trains at Sherborne and Gillingham travelling to and from London Waterloo.

South Western Railway says train services running through Salisbury and Warminster stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 6pm today, Wednesday, November 29, the rail firm says.

Tickets will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following services: - Great Western Railway services between Exeter St Davids and London Paddington (in both directions) - Great Western Railway services between Basingstoke and Reading (in both directions) - London Underground via any reasonable route (for travel between London Waterloo and London Paddington)

For further information or onward travel advice passengers are advised to speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey," a spokesman for South Western Railway said.
