A father from Littlemoor and charity serial volunteer is shaving his ‘well known’ hair off for charity.

Kelvin Bunting is cutting his ponytail after two years of growth for three separate charities that are close to his heart.

He is doing it in aid of the Littlemoor youth club, Top Club, where he volunteers for the Nest community shop, Weldmar Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Kelvin said: "The three charities I'm supporting are Cancer Research, because I've lost 70 per cent of my family to various cancers, and I'm sure this is close to home for many.

“Weldmar Hospicecare, as since I have volunteered at the charity shop on St. Thomas Street, hearing the stories of customers who have had the amazing free care from the hospice has really inspired me to do something.

“And the Littlemoor Top Club, to raise money for many activities/clubs etcetera and to support kids and families in my local community.”

Top Club is a youth club that operates out of the community centre on Louviers Road and is run by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Young people can come and have some food as well as participate in many different activities such as cooking, pool, table tennis or arts and crafts. The Nest community store is also located at the community centre.

Top Club chairman and Nest manager James Knott, who set up the appeal, said: "Kelvin is an amazing volunteer who gives his free time to help at the Nest situated in Top Club. It’s great he’s going to do this for three such great causes."

Local Littlemoor and Preston councillor Louie O'Leary has already donated to the cause.

He said: "Kelvin is well known for his hairstyle by many on the estate and he's a really good sport doing this for such great causes."

Kelvin will brave the shave on December 8 in the foyer of the Morrisons main store.

Kelvin added: “If any of these are important to you please sponsor me for my head shave on December 8 at Morrisons foyer at 1pm, so that together we can continue the support of these chosen charities. Any donation is gratefully appreciated."
