A yellow warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for Dorset this weekend.

Heavy rain is expected in the early hours of Saturday, clearing to the east by mid morning.

Some 10-20 mm of rain will fall widely with as much as 30mm in a few places.

Torrential rain caused chaos in an already sodden Dorset yesterday, Thursday, December 7.

Flood alerts were in place in all west Dorset rivers, a landslip closed a main west Dorset route and schools across the county closed for the day.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.

"Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.

"Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
