A Dorset GP surgery has partnered with Weymouth audiologists to bring the latest technology and services to residents in the Puddletown area.

Audiology staff from Specsavers Weymouth, together with Puddletown Surgery, are providing privately funded services including hearing assessments, ear wax removal by microsuction, hearing protection consultations and ear-health checks.

A member of the Specsavers team will be visiting the surgery on Tuesdays once a fortnight to provide private services, assessing a wide range of people’s hearing issues. If there is enough local demand, the team will increase their services across more days.

Mark Hayles, director of Audiology for Weymouth Specsavers, said: “We are delighted to be opening a private hearing service in the Puddletown Surgery.

“We know that people with hearing loss can end up feeling isolated and lonely as they struggle to communicate and join in with others, so we would certainly urge them to seek professional help."

Clare Stickland, practice manager, adds: “We are delighted to bring the Specsavers audiology team into our community and offer local residents an extra service that they would normally have to travel to access.

“As well as ear-health checks identifying causes of hearing loss, they can also pick up many other conditions that can seriously affect the person’s wider health. This is why an early diagnosis is essential in these matters because if caught quickly enough, interventions can be made that result in a positive outcome.”
