A Dorset festival that was cancelled due to the venue's landowner pulling out is now back on.

The Dorset Hot Air Balloon Festival was originally cancelled earlier this year after the landowner pulled out of the event as concerns over the legitimacy of the festival were raised.

Concerns had been raised that the event may have been a scam after scammers had infiltrated the events Facebook page.

Due to those concerns, the landowner pulled out and refunds were handed out to  anyone who had bought a ticket.

However, the event has now been rescheduled after the owner of the Dorchester Showground, where the event is to be held, reached out to the festival organises to invite them back.

Extreme Events LTD have confirmed to the Echo that meetings have been held and payment to secure the venue has been made and the festival will now go ahead.

A spokesperson for Extreme Events LTD said: ‘’We were delighted to be approached with the offer of the Dorset Balloon Festival to continue to go ahead after the original cancellation.

“An event like this is unique to anything else that Dorset has ever seen and we are so excited to bring it back - even better than originally planned.’’

The event is now scheduled to take place on May 4 and May 5, 2024, and will not only bring hot air balloons to the county but a host of other activities as well.

Opportunities will be offered to local people to showcase their arts and crafts at the festival market, as well as hot and cold food traders.

Local music artists will also be welcome to apply to perform at the event.

The spokesperson added: “In addition to the captivating balloon displays, the festival offers a range of exciting activities and entertainment for the whole family.

“From live music performances to delicious food stalls, there will be something to suit every taste and interest.

“Children will be delighted with the dedicated kids' zone, featuring fun-filled activities and games to keep them entertained throughout the weekend.”

Camping will be available for the event, including a specifically designed area for motorhome owners, offering spacious pitches and modern facilities with convenient access to the festival.

The spokesperson added:  "We wanted to create an inclusive experience for motorhome enthusiasts, allowing them to enjoy the festival to the fullest while enjoying the comfort and convenience of their own motorhomes."

There will be a chance for any previous ticket owner of this event to grab a 30% discount as a token of appreciation for their original purchase.

1200 tickets have already been sold since the relaunch was announced on Saturday, December 23.
