A breath-taking sunset could be seen across Dorset skies last night.
The sky turned beautiful shades of red, orange and purple in a sight that captivated the county.
By now, if you weren’t fortunate enough to capture a glimpse of the magnificent skies yourself, the internet and social media has been flooded with people’s amazing pictures.
Gillian Thomas captured the beautiful oranges and yellows in last night's sunset.
She said: "I haven't seen a sky like this one for a while. What a treat mother nature gave us this evening."
Daryl Gill was on Portland when he saw the sunset, describing it as a 'stunning sunset sky after such a miserable day.'
Photographer Helen Moore was able to capture this photo of the stunning sky from her back garden in Weymouth.
The dramatic sunset left many awe-struck after some heavy rain showers.
The beautiful red, orange and yellow colours can be seen much more vividly as the sun sets due to its position in the sky.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "At sunrise and sunset, the sun is very low in the sky, which means that the sunlight we see has travelled through a much thicker amount of atmosphere.
"Because blue light is scattered more strongly by the atmosphere, it tends to be scattered several times and deflected away in other directions before it gets to us. This means that there is relatively more yellow and red light left for us to see."
Tonight, the sun will set at around 4.12pm.
