Three people were seriously injured in a crash between a car and a motorcycle on the A30 near Sherborne last night.

Dorset Police received a report of a collision on the A30 Yeovil Road near Sherborne involving a blue BMW and a red Peugeot motorcycle at 9.38pm on Tuesday, January 2.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 40s from Yeovil, and his pillion passenger, a woman aged in her 30s also from Yeovil, were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded to the incident and an examination of the scene was conducted.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following the crash.

Police Constable Mark Burton, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out an investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone with information that could assist our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, as well as anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding as the road closures were in place.”
