A well-loved pantomime is returning to Weymouth this January.

Dick Whittington will be performed by Weymouth Drama Club – the first pantomime the company has staged for a few years.

This story sees penniless boy Dick travel to London with his cat to seek his fortune. Meanwhile Queen Rat plots to poison Londoners with the plague. Fairy Bow Bells is on hand to help – and haphazard hindrance comes from Sarah the Cook, Idle Jack and others.

The club produces a variety of productions covering different genres from Shakespeare and Agatha Christie to physical theatre and children’s classics.

Simon Raynes, Chair of Weymouth Drama Club says: “Dick Whittington will be feast for all the family at a knockout price. The directors, Antoinette Richards and Jacqui Trent, have a wealth of pantomime experience having played principal roles for the Club and directed previous pantos.”

The pantomime will be performed on January 19 and 20 at Weymouth Bay Methodist Church. Tickets are £12 for adults and £5 under 12s.
