A POLICE investigation into a stabbing in Weymouth town centre is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

The attack on Saturday, January 27, sparked a major inquiry from detectives and led to a small town centre street being cordoned off for much of Saturday morning.

People in the area reacted to the news of the shocking incident and saw multiple police officers and forensics teams in the area.

The force was alerted after reports a man had been found injured at an address around 6.10am on Saturday. It followed what police described as ‘an altercation’ in Caroline Place.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment of suspected stab wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Caroline Place, between Great George Street and Park Street, was cordoned off with police tape for around six hours whilst forensics teams were called to the scene to investigate and officers conducted enquiries.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Detectives from Dorset County CID are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries into this incident and are exploring a number of active lines of investigation.

"No arrests have been made and there is no further update at this time."
