A local arts company has announced a new partnership to strengthen its wellbeing programme to commemorate its 40th anniversary.

Dorchester Arts announced the partnership with risk management company, RiskSTOP, based in Poundbury.

The support is set to transform Dorchester Arts’ expanding health and wellbeing programme.

RiskSTOP previously supported Dorchester Arts’ Nature Heals exhibition at the Dorset Museum and Art Gallery in 2023.

The company’s support will specifically fund Parkinson’s Dance in Dorchester.

Parkinson’s Dance is a class with therapeutic benefits for those living with Parkinson’s at all levels for a whole year.

Mark Tattersall, artistic director of Dorchester Arts, said: “This year Dorchester Arts celebrates 40 years of bringing the arts to the county town.

“We are delighted to be able to mark this anniversary by welcoming a new corporate supporter and are grateful to the RiskSTOP Group for its far-sighted support of our health and wellbeing programme, which uses the arts and creativity to benefit so many people across Dorset.”

Natalie Joyce, of RiskSTOP said “It’s clear to us at RiskSTOP Group that the ripple effect this project provides to those living with Parkinsons, as well as their carers and family members, is significant. I’m delighted we’ve been given the opportunity to support these dance classes locally.

"I’m also looking forward to getting along to some of the classes myself to see the difference they can make.”
