A man is due to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault on a rugby player during a game.
It was reported that at around 3.30pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023, a male rugby player was assaulted during the first half of the match between Sherborne RFC and Wellington RFC at the Terrace Playing Fields.
The victim attended hospital for treatment, where he was found to have fractures to his eye socket and cheek bone.
A 26-year-old man from Devon attended a voluntary police interview and has since been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 21, for an offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
