A group of men have been detained for alleged poaching offences

Officers from Dorset Police Rural Crime Team received reports of suspected poaching in North Dorset, leading them to detain three men and search a vehicle.

Catapults and metal shots have been seized and an investigation is underway.

It is also alleged that dogs and ferrets have been used to illegally hunt wildlife.

The offences are believed to have occurred at approximately 12pm on Friday, February 9, in Spetisbury.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police Rural Crime said: “Following reports of suspected poaching in Spetisbury officers have detained three males and searched a vehicle.

“Catapults and metal shot have been seized and an investigation is underway. It is alleged that dogs and ferrets have been used to illegally hunt wildlife.”
