A teenage boy has sustained "several facial injuries" in an alleged assault in Weymouth, Dorset Police say.

Officers received a report that around 5:30pm on Monday, February 19 the boy was approached by six young people near the skate park at The Marsh playing fields in Knightsdale Road.

It was reported the boy was "punched multiple times in the head" by a male member of the group wearing a black hooded top, black trousers, black trainers and wearing a bum bag. The rest of the group were also dressed in similar clothing.

They all reportedly fled the scene in the direction of the Rodwell Trail.

The victim sustained several facial injuries and was later treated in hospital.

Police Constable Christopher Windows, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out a detailed investigation into this assault and I am keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“I am particularly keen to speak to members of the group who were present during the incident.

“Finally, I would also urge any residents in the vicinity with home CCTV or doorbell cameras, as well as motorists who were driving in the area and have dashcam fitted, to please check their footage and see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
