River levels are ‘rising rapidly’ following bouts of heavy rain.

Flood warnings are currently in place across Dorset with more rain forecast this week.

One of the areas impacted by the warning according to the Environment Agency is the River Wey from Upwey to Weymouth with low lying land expected to be most affected, including Church Street, Little Mead, Nottington Lane, Nottington Farm and Almas Palace.

The River Way has already flooded at the bus turning point in Radipole Village and groundwater levels in the fields off of the nearby Radipole Lane also appear very high.

Further rainfall is forecast tomorrow morning and people are urged to start acting on their flood plans if they have one.

More warnings remain in place as river levels are rising rapidly on the Upper Dorset Frome, Hooke River due to heavy rainfall.

Flooding is also forecast to affect locations near the Upper Dorset Frome, Hooke River, with low lying land expected to be most affected.

There are also a number of flood alerts affecting Weymouth rivers and streams, Upper and Lower Frome and tributaries, the River Piddle and tributaries and other areas of West Dorset.

Flooding has already begun near Stratton and towards Bradford Peverell with warning signs put in place along the road.

The flood warnings follow a yellow weather warning for rain which was put in place from 12am-12pm today (Wednesday, February 21).

The warning covers parts of North Dorset including Gillingham and East Dorset including Swanage.
