A FIRE ENGINE was delayed by inappropriate parking in Sherborne.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue has issued a warning over bad parking which can cause delays to emergency vehicles.
A fire service spokesperson said: "We would just like to remind people about the importance of parking appropriately.
"Last night we were delayed getting to a job due to cars not leaving enough gap when parked diagonally opposite one another on a bend.
The Highway Code sets out guidelines on parking on roads this includes:
Rule 243 of the code says: "DO NOT stop or park:
"Anywhere you would prevent access for emergency services.
"Opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.
The fire service spokesperson added: "Thankfully our call out wasn’t anything too serious this time.
"When you park just have a little check and think to yourself - can an emergency vehicle such as a fire engine or ambulance get through?"
