A MARINE parade is being planned in Weymouth during May to mark the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.

The event is scheduled to be held on May 14th involving local boats clubs, the RNLI lifeboat team and private boat owners, both motor and sail.

Other Weymouth anniversaries being planned for include events in and around the Nothe Fort and the town to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in early June.

Also still being planned is the Fayre in the Square likely to be May 25th and 26th; the Wessex Folk Festival, expected during the first week on June; the Seafood Festival under a new organiser on September 7th and 8th and the Ironman triathlon on September 14th and 15th.

At West Bay Pirates Day is to be held on May 26th; Model Boat racing on June 15th and 16th; Power Boat racing on July 5th to 7th; the RNLI raft race on July 25th; West Bay Day on August 4th; A Blood Bikes charity ride on September 8th and Bonfire by the Beach on October 26th.

Lyme Regis harbour-based events include the RNLI Blessing of boats on May 5th; the Gig Master’s regatta on May 19th; RNLI lifeboat week from July 27th to August 2nd; the town Sailing Club regatta on 3rd and 4th August; Carnival week August 2nd to 10th; the Gig Club open regatta on August 10th; water polo championship on August 24th and 25th; Lyme Splash swim on September 8th and fireworks and bonfire on November 2nd.
