A woman was rescued from her flat after a fire broke out late last night.
Crews from Dorchester Fire Station received a report at around 11.53pm yesterday of an alarm sounding at a flat in Poundbury, Dorchester.
Once crews arrived at the scene, they met with a neighbour who made the emergency call. Smoke could be scene inside the property.
The crew forced entry to the property and found the occupant asleep on the sofa. It is believed the source of the smoke was from a pan that had been left on the cooker.
Crews requested the attendance of the ambulance service and the woman was treated for smoke inhalation.
A spokesperson from Dorchester Fire Station said: "This is a good example of having working smoke detection as without it, this incident could have been much more serious."
