The NHS is looking for people to help improve digital health and care services in Dorset.

NHS Dorset are looking for volunteers to join its Digital Public Engagement Group (DPEG) to help develop future digital health and care services for people across the county.

The group will work alongside NHS Dorset as well as other health and care partners on a range of projects which aim to improve physical and mental health.

This will include maternity and women’s health, cancer, and long-term conditions like diabetes and asthma.

Another key role of the group is to provide advice and challenge for system-wide development of Dorset’s digital health and care technologies, services and communications.

The group also guide the approach of NHS Dorset within public engagement in relation to digital health and care, to digitise and transform services safely and securely. The NHS are hoping that this will improve the outcomes, experience and safety for everyone in Dorset.

Made up of more than 30 members, the group has a variety of lived experience across Dorset’s geography, demography and diversity, including people with existing long-term conditions who have an insight into using technology to manage or monitor their condition.

Stephen Slough is Chief Digital Information Officer with NHS Dorset. He said: “There are many exciting developments in technology that have already become part of everyday life over the last few years and there is no doubt that using these effectively can help people with both their own health and that of their loved ones.

“Thousands of people in Dorset are already using things like home monitoring devices, health apps or online consultations enabling them to take control of their own health, at the same time helping to ease day-to-day pressures on services.

“DPEG members are made up of people from all ages and walks of life, so whether you are already tech-savvy or just have a passing interest please do get in touch.”

Meetings are bi-monthly, alternating between online and face to face.

The closing day for applications is Wednesday, May 1. For more information and details of how to apply please visit ourdorset.org.uk/DPEG or email communication@nhsdorset.nhs.uk.
