A ‘CHANGING PLACES’ unit is to be added to the Corfe Castle information and visitor centre by the National Trust.
The ready-made modular unit will be added to the car park to meet the Trust’s commitment to providing accessible facilities for all its visitors.
It says the unit will be placed on a concrete base to the rear of the existing visitor centre and out of sight of the castle itself.
The units are designed to allow disabled access, with a wheelchair if needed, together with adequate room for one or two carers.
It will be equipped with a moveable hoist and height adjustable changing bench in addition to a disabled-friendly toilet and height adjustable wash basin.
Corfe Castle Parish Council said it was happy with the proposal and the positioning of the unit although said it would have objected had it led to a loss of car parking spaces.
