An ‘inspiring’ fundraising event is returning with the hopes of being ‘better than ever.’

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s 5k Twilight Shift event is set to take place on Saturday, July 6, at Henstridge Airfield.

The event in aid of the lifesaving charity is now in its third year and there are only 500 places available for those who wish to take part.

Alana Hardy, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Fundraising Events Officer said: “Our 5K Twilight Shift is always an inspiring event and we are hoping to build on the success of previous years and make this one better than ever. It’s really special, as people who take part, get to meet members of our crew and often see the aircraft depart should our team be needed to respond to an incident.

“The atmosphere is really fun, but the cause is so very important. People who join us on the day and raise money in sponsorship will be helping us to continue saving lives, today, tomorrow and in the future. I would encourage everyone, no matter your age or ability to register and take part.”

Participants can run, jog, or walk the 5K and there is an option to enter as an individual, as a family, or a group.

People can also take part as a serious runner, or simply use it to have fun and exercise.

Fancy dress is encouraged for a bit of fun, or if you are a more experienced 5K runner, or why not carry a bit of extra weight, just like the air ambulance team need to do when they are attending an incident.

The first 100 adults who enter, will receive a free t-shirt and the charity hopes that anyone who is fortunate to gain a place, will use the opportunity to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

Entrance is £15 for adults and £10 for under 16’s and those interested can register online by visiting: https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/The5KTwilightShift2024
