A BIRDWATCHING event at The Fleet has been cancelled due to strong winds and higher-than-normal tides.
Dorset Wildlife Trust were due to host a birdwatching event - 'The Spring Birds of Chesil, The Fleet and Portland Harbour' - at 10am today.
The billing for the event wrote: "Join the ranger for a guided walk to look for and identify birds visiting the Chesil & Fleet Nature Reserve.
"We will be keeping an eye for the variety of waders that come to feed on the mudflats and migrants stopping off for a rest."
The event has been cancelled due to adverse weather.
A spokesperson for the Dorset Wildlife Trust said: "Due to the strong winds and higher than normal tides, we regret that we've decided to cancel the Spring Birds of Chesil and the Fleet event today.
"We apologise for any inconvenience."
