ANOTHER significant rockfall occurred in West Dorset on Tuesday.

A cliff at Burton Bradstock gave way, leading to tonnes of rock crashing onto the beach.

Warning signs are in place to warn people of the risks associated with overhanging cliffs and rockfalls, which pose a danger even at low tides.

The area has seen an increased number of rockfalls on the coastline in recent times.

The rockfall is likely to block those walking along the beach - but strongly discouraged this due to the risk of repeated falls.

It follows cliff falls in West Bay on Good Friday and Monday, April 8.

Dorset Council has issued the following advice about rock falls:

1. Stay away from the edge of the cliff top - admire the view from a safe distance

2. Stay away from the base of cliffs: rock falls and landslides can happen at any time. If you are under a rock fall, the likelihood is you will die

3. Pay attention to warning signs – they are there for your safety

4. Check tide times before you set off to avoid being cut off by incoming tides

5. Keep dogs on leads near the cliff edge
