Train passengers experienced delays due to a points failure between the Dorchester and Somerset area.
Disruption had been caused on the Great Western Railway Northbound line heading towards Bristol.
Services had been at a stand still between Dorchester West and Castle Cary.
The points failure was reported at around 10.29am today.
Normal service was resumed at around 11.33am.
The Dorset Echo has contacted Great Western Railway for comment.
