Three people have been arrested after drugs and a blade were discovered after two vehicle stops.

Officers from Dorset Police stopped two vehicles last week, which resulted in three people being arrested for possession of drugs. 

The first stop happened on Wednesday, 10 April on the outskirts of Dorchester were a 'quantity of suspected Class A drugs' were found, resulting in a man being arrested.

More drugs and a large amount of cash was also recovered from a local address which was subsequently searched.

On Thursday, April 11, a second unrelated vehicle was stopped in Dorchester which saw both the occupants arrested for number of offences including failing to appear at court, possession of drugs and possession of a 'bladed article'.

This vehicle was seized and an address in Poundbury was also searched.

Enquiries in both these incidents are still on going.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Neighbourhood officers have been involved in two proactive vehicle stop checks of note this week whilst working with colleagues from other teams.

"On Wednesday, a vehicle was stopped on the outskirts of Dorchester. The driver was searched and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs was located which resulted in the male being arrested.

"A local address was then subsequently searched and a significant amount of drugs and large amount of cash was seized.

"Enquires are ongoing.

"On Thursday, a further vehicle was stopped in Dorchester which resulted in the two occupants being arrested for a number of suspected offences.

"This included failing to appear at Court, possession of a bladed article, driving whilst over the prescribed drug drive limit and possession of drugs.

"The vehicle was also seized and an address in Poundbury was also searched in relation to the arrests."
