A man has sustained head injuries in an alleged assault in Weymouth, Dorset Police say.
Officers received a report at 2.13pm on Thursday, April 18 that a man was assaulted in Crescent Street in Weymouth.
It is reported he "sustained injuries to the head" and is currently being treated by the ambulance service.
Shortly after, in the nearby area of Westham Bridge, officers arrested a 51-year-old man from Weymouth on suspicion of robbery.
Dorset Police report that it was suggested items were taken from the man who was assaulted.
A cordon has been put in place at the scene and an investigation into the incident is underway.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 2.13pm on Thursday 18 April 2024 that a man was assaulted in Crescent Street in Weymouth.
"The victim has sustained injuries to his head and is being treated by the ambulance service.
"Following enquiries, a 51-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested in the area of Westham Bridge on suspicion of robbery.
"A cordon is in place and an investigation is underway into the incident."
