THE A35 was closed following a two-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred west of Bridport, near the Symondsbury turn off (Miles Cross) this morning following a crash between a car and a van.

Both drivers involved were injured and one was taken to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance.

A road closure was put in place from Miles Cross to the Crown Roundabout to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Two police cars, two fire engines and an ambulance were all seen at the site of the incident.

The road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police previously said: "Officers are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A35 west of Bridport.

"Road closures are in place in the area to allow emergency services to deal with the incident. We would ask motorists to please avoid the area and seek alternative routes at this time."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 10.50AM o to a road traffic incident near Bridport. 

"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital."

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews from Bridport attended a road traffic collision on the A35 at Eype.

"Fortunately no persons were trapped in either of the two vehicles. After assisting the ambulance service with two casualties the incident was left in the hands of the police."
